All the ten people represented were in some way connected to the Surrealist movement. Feldmann has enlarged the size of each handprint from the source material - a set of handprints taken by Charlotte Wolff in the 1930s. Feldmann is a German artist generally regarded as a key figure in the development of the use of appropriated imagery in contemporary art and as an important contributor to Conceptual Art in Europe. Feldmann has been an important influence on artists from Glasgow such as Douglas Gordon, Martin Boyce, Jonathan Monk and Jim Lambie. This work was presented by the Art Fund through Art Fund International.
