Jenny Holzer is known for making work that addresses social justice and political issues, most commonly raising awareness to incidents of human rights abuse.

Characteristically she exhibits written texts (either her own writings or carefully chosen quotes or texts by other people) as posters, projections or, most importantly, as LED installations of various sizes which she began to produce in the 1980s. This work uses her own words and arises from previous projects: ‘BlueÂ’ (São Paulo, Brazil, 1998), ‘ArnoÂ’ (Florence, Italy, 1996), and ‘ErlaufÂ’ (Erlauf, Austria, 1995). The texts directly address the viewer. They echo the voices of victims and perpetrators of violence and torture. This work was presented by the Art Fund through Art Fund International.
