This depiction of the Nile landscape evokes the primeval waters from which life first emerged in Egyptian mythology, and the cheerful pygmies hunting ducks echo the constant struggle the gods and pharaohs must wage against the forces of chaos. Bolton MuseumÂ’s Egyptian collection is one of the most comprehensive in Britain, formed as a result of over 120 yearsÂ’ support of British excavations in Egypt.
