This wall mounted work in four parts makes reference to architectural forms, like all Johnston's works.

Alan Johnston has been a driving force in the development of Scottish contemporary art for the last four decades. His art is an observation of the environment, whether built or natural, and of the imprint of human activity on the landscape. These concepts are manifest in 'Orkney', which holds a particular resonance within the Pier Arts CentreÂ’s recent building redevelopment. This work creates links between the CentreÂ’s architecture and the works of art displayed therein to provide new readings of the permanent collection on display.

Provenance
