They are made using photomontage and hand-applied marks and colour. These self-portraits challenge traditional notions of femininity as well as misconceived and stereotypical assumptions about Asian women. The works reference aspects of both Western and Indian culture, from Bollywood, Pop Art and Hindu philosophy to Indian comics, Dada and Surrealism and the urban music and fashion of 1990s Britain.
