William Scott was Dundee's outstanding silversmith at the end of the 18th century.

These buckles are crisp in form with curbed rectangular open work and great attention to detail. Shoe buckles from this period are rare and these are the first ones by Scott to enter Dundee's collection. They will compliment other works by Scott including cutlery, a sugar vase, a communion plate and a pierced cake basket.

Provenance

Dr William Guthrie; by descent.
