It purports to be an 'extraordinary assemblage of rare ethnographic and reliquary fetish objects which subsequent generations of the Chapman family have diligently added to over a period of seventy years'. However on closer inspection the unmistakable face of Ronald McDonald leers out from one of the works and the golden arches can be detected in every other carving. The Chapman Family Collection is widely considered to be their most conceptually sophisticated and accomplished work to date. The Chapmans make the issue of cultural trespass the broader issue addressed here, rather than any simplistic reference to a fast-food chain.
