Art Fund Collection of Middle Eastern Photography at the Victoria and Albert Museum and British Museum
Developed by the British Museum and the V&A with a grant of over £100,000, the Art Fund Collection of Middle Eastern Photography comprises of over 80 important works by Middle Eastern artists responding to the social challenges and political upheavals of the Middle East over the last 30 years.
In September 2015 we launched a pilot scheme with Thomas Dane Gallery, with the support of several philanthropists, to help museums and galleries to acquire film and video works. Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne and the Whitworth in Manchester will be the first two galleries to benefit from the fund. The scheme will provide £200,000 to each gallery over two years.
A funding programme that enables promising and ambitious curators to pursue new avenues of collecting for their museums, while building critical professional skills. New Collecting Awards helps museums and galleries develop their fine and applied art collections by offering 100% funding for focused collecting that will extend holdings into new areas, or deepen existing holdings in imaginative ways.
