Ship Ahoy! Major donation boosts campaign21 March 2012

 We’ve raised over £160,000 towards the campaign to buy Nelson’s Ship in a Bottle for the National Maritime Museum so far and we are hoping a generous donation from Ocean Outdoor will give the campaign a final boost. The real-estate advertising company pledged £365,200 worth of outdoor advertising to ensure the sculpture is bought for the new Royal Borough of Greenwich in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Ocean Outdoor’s Tim Bleakley commented, “Shonibare’s scale model of Nelson’s Victory has proved one of the most popular of the fourth plinth commissions, but its future is in doubt. It really is all hands on deck to help save this contemporary tribute to a great British icon in what is a very British year.”  We couldn't agree more...
