Art Funded by you

Willows, Fishpond, Dorset

Lucien Pissarro, 1863–1944

Courtesy Manchester Art Gallery

In the foreground a hedge terminating in a bush runs from the right-hand bottom corner to the centre, where it partially hides a cottage standing beyond a lane which runs across the picture. This work is one of seven purchased at the Christie's sale held in aid of the British Red Cross Society. Miss Julia Reckitt donated the sum of £50 and the Art Fund purchased the works and distributed them to seven public institutions including the British Museum, Tate, Birmingham and Manchester.
