Art Funded by you

View of Southampton Showing the Town Quay and the Anchorage from the Platform

John Constable, 1816

One of 15 sketches by Constable which were removed from the recently discovered Hornby Album and sold at Crewkerne. This drawing comes from the larger of 2 sketchbooks used by Constable in 1816 and belongs to a group of pages which he apparently removed and mounted on larger sheets. Shows the Town Quay and Anchorage from the Platform, which no longer exist.
