Untitled (Geoff and Scruffy Series)
Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, 1956

The Geoff and Scruffy series was inspired by the artist’s friendship with Geoffrey Tribe and his dog Scruffy. The compositions recall the landscape around Porthmeor beach in St Ives and form a basic device of abstract shapes linked by narrow bands. This gift is an important addition to the gallery’s strong collection of work by the St Ives school.
