Three pieces of Dress Code furniture

1) Dress-Code Kiku: Solid silver ash; 2) Dress-Code Ume: Solid silver ash & 3) Dress-Code Botan: Acrylic The pieces – designed by two internationally esteemed Japanese/Australian artists – are excellent examples of modern design which draws heavily on Japanese traditions in both furniture and textile design. The pieces were developed with the assistance of a special grant to Fukutoshi Ueno from Arts Queensland. ‘ Dress CodeÂ’ was inspired by the series of symbols assigned to the various mistresses of the 11th century Japanese nobleman Hikaru Genji . The series had its first appearance at 100% Design Tokyo in late October 2008, then in Sydney as part of the The Shining Prince at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (2008-09). Presented by the Art Fund and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
