A portrait of Thomas Wilkinson (1751-1836) sitting holding a book upright on his lap with one hand. Wilkinson was a Quaker and minor poet and writer who was well connected with Burke, Clarkson, Wordsworth and Coleridge. He is best known for inspiring lines in Wordsworth poem 'The Solitary Reaper'.
