The Walled Garden

Keith Vaughan, 1951

© The estate of Keith Vaughan. All rights reserved, DACS 2009

Keith Vaughan was in the Neo Romantic movement before developing into abstraction and is seen as one of the great artists of the post war era. His connection with Essex began in 1964 and continued until his death in 1977. This is a well known image, signed by the artist and printed in 1951 by the Redfern Gallery. It shows Vaughan's strength as a printmaker and complements another work by Vaughan in the collection, 'Harrow Hill III', ArtFunded in 2008. This work was acquired with the support of the Art Fund with the assistance of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
