The Vale of Aylesbury Steeple Chase,1836

Charles Hunt, 1836

Jockeys race over a hedge towards the finishing post, whips in hand; on the left, one passes the finish, looking behind him. By the hedge, other horses have taken a fall, while spectators watch and cheer from the left. Engraved by C and G Hunt, after FC Turner. Part of a series of aquatints and prints presented to the British Museum after the public expressed regret at the poor representation of British Sporting Art in the National Collections.
