The Third Foolish Virgin

Israhel van, the younger Meckenem, 1450–1503

This engraving after Martin Schongauer is one of four Old Master drawing purchased by the Art Fund and presented to the Walker. The drawings come from the famous collection at Ince Blundell in Lancashire. Henry Blundell laid the foundations of the Ince Blundell collection with extensive purchases of classical sculpture and paintings. Many of his sculptures are now in the Liverpool Museum.
