The Thames Tunnel changing to the Coronation Procession from Buckingham Palace
William Spooner, 1837
The ‘Protean View’ or ‘transformation’, is an alternative amusement to the peepshow, popular in Victorian times. Spooner produced several examples although little is known about the artist. This work depicts a view of The Thames Tunnel which changes into the Coronation Procession from Buckingham Palace when the lithograph is lit from behind.
