The Seventh Plague of Egypt

John Martin, 1823

This is one a group of ten paintings which come from the collection of the late Mrs. Charlotte Frank who, together with her husband Robert Frank, did much to encourage the revival of interest in John Martin in the 1970s. The artist was born near Hexham and the eight paintings by him have been chosen to augment the collection of his work already in the Laing Art Gallery.
