A composite picture of various incidents in the four days' battle between the Dutch and the English off the mouth of the Thames. In the centre is a stern view of De Ruyter's flagship the Zeven Provincien,and, on the right, the Royal Prince which ran ashore on the Galloper and was burnt on the third day. In the centre middle-distance is Prince Rupert's flagship, the Royal James, with her main topmast going by the board.
