The Mildmay monteith

George Garthorne, 1684–1685

Silver bowl with a notched brim and engraved with exotic oriental figures, plants and birds. It has a shield with the engraved arms of the Mildmay family. It was designed to let drinking vessels hang in the notches to cool them.
