To either side of them are the twelve Apostles. At the bottom left an angel blows a horn to signal the resurrection of the dead, at the bottom left groups are led into Paradise. Satan is situated in the middle section on the right where the Damned are devoured by Satan's throne of serpents. The empty throne with the book and instruments at the bottom centre is the Byzantine 'Etimasia,' the symbol of Our Lord as Judge.
