The Disembarkation of the Lord Mayor at Blackfriars Bridge

Thomas Allom, 1830

Allom was an architect responsible for laying out the Ladbroke estate in Notting Hill, London. Here the procession which traditionally took place annually on 9 Nov. A fine document of the appearance of the City at Blackfriars and a record of the manner in which one of the great City ceremonials was conducted at a time when the Thames was still one of London's main thoroughfares.
