The Cook
Bernardo Strozzi, c. 1620–1625

Depicts woman seated at table, plucking feathers from a swan laying across her lap. Other game hangs from the ceiling and lies next to her on the floor. The only known variant of one of the seminal genre pictures of the seventeenth century, Strozzi's 'Cuoca' (Cook) in the collection of the Palazzo Rosso, Genoa.
