Still Life with Lustre Jug
Harry Keay, 1941

© Dundee City Council, Arts & Heritage
This highly finished and elaborate still life shows the influence of the Dutch still-lifes this Scottish artist much admired. In common with the painting of James Cowie, the dry realism of Keay's early work is markedly different from the free and painterly style of much Scottish art of the time.
