St Margaret of Cortona in Ecstasy

Giuseppe Bazzani, 1764

Bazzani was a native of Mantua where he painted many frescoes and became director of the Academy. The present picture may be a sketch for, or a small replica of, an altar-piece of this subject by Bazzani recorded in the Church of San Francesco, Mantua, in 1764.
