This work was purchased by the Art Fund at Collect 2008, the Craft Council's contemporary craft fair as part of a new £50,000 initiative called Art Fund Collect. The scheme provided curators early access to the fair and the promise of 100% grants allowing them to compete with private collectors and expand their regional collections, whilst raising the profile of public collections of contemporary craft in the UK. Ulster Museum was among the ten shortlisted institutions at the preview and this work one of work purchased outright by the Art Fund. This work is an intricate piece, inspired by botanical drawings, which has been beautifully crafted in silver. It will compliment the museum's existing collection of botanical specimens making the acquisition relevant not only to its applied art collections but to the museum as a whole.
