Neo-Classical style jug with a cane-whipped handle. The absence of any vine motif in its decoration suggest it is a pot for Turkish coffee. Engraved; 'a gift from the owners of the ship Bellona to Captain Isaac Barras, 1781'. The Bellona was an armed merchantman engaged in Carribean trade, built and launched in Whitehaven in 1776.
