Ritual vessel & cover

Unknown artist, 1122–1100 BC

Heavily patinated yu type vessel. It has a fitted domed lid culminating in a flared cylinder intended to form a foot-ring when the lid is upturned, to serve as a cup. Lid and body are ornamented with bands of amphisbaena dragons, the base of the body with long-tailed birds; the handle with monster-masks elongated into cicada-like forms.
