Portrait of Viscount Combermere (1773-1865), full length in Indian state-dress, a procession with an elephant in the background. Lord Combermere (Sir Stapleton Cotton) was the outstanding cavalry officer of his day and Governor of Barbados, and the painting was presented to Lord Combermere by the Maharajah of Bhurtpore.
