Portrait of John Custance of Weston House, Norwich, Norfolk

Henry Walton, c. 1781

Three-quarter length oval portrait of John Custance (1749-1822) who inherited his estate at Weston Longville near Norwich at the age of eight and married Frances Beauchamp-Proctor in 1778. Henry Walton studied painting in the studio of Johann Zoffany and then returned to his native Norfolk to practice.
