Alfred Edward Chalon, 1848

Charles Robert Leslie (1794-1859) was a contemporary chronicler of the British school of painting and Constable's first and most sympathetic biographer. He was elected as a Royal Academian in 1816 and this work was painted by a close freiend and fellow academian.
