One of six paintings bequeathed by Gaspard Farrer which previously belonged to his father Sir William Farrer, one of the best-known collectors of Italian pictures in the late nineteenth century. The 6 works were part of a larger bequest which included pictures, prints, Oriental ceramics and silver plate.
