Portrait of a young man

Christoffel, II van Sichem, 1613

This portrait of a young man in a turban, with a scroll of paper in his left hand, is a striking example of Van Sichem's ability as a portraitist in woodcut, a technique which was being displaced at that period by the engraved plate.
