Portable altar

Unknown artist, 1125–1150

Used by church dignitaries if on a journey and out of reach of church for mass. Richly carved with images of the apostles within arcades on the long sides. At one end is a representation of the Crucifixion with St John and the Virgin, and at the other, Christ in Majesty with symbols of the Evangelists.
