William Henry Fox Talbot, 1806-1877, with some 20th-century material

William Henry Fox Talbot was a Victorian polymath who invented pioneering photographic techniques.

This archive includes many early photographs, including one made by Talbot's wife Constance, which may be the earliest image ever taken by a woman. Other elements of the archive include original manuscripts, family diaries and correspondence.

This archive was acquired with assistance from the Wolfson Foundation.
