Pair of casts and models for 'Truth and Religion'

Sir Alfred Gilbert, c. 1930

Two original models and two bronze casts representing Truth and Religion made for the Alexandra Memorial situated near St JamesÂ’ Park in London. The memorial was an important commission for Gilbert and marks his return to respectability in Britain following his public disgrace for bankruptcy, fraud, and the stripping of his RA title. The figures complement the existing material relating to Gilbert at Leeds including another model relating to the Alexandra Memorial.
