Tulip shaped with engraving and niello inlay around the candleholder. Size suggests it was used in a mihrab or mosque rather than domestic or even court setting. Stalactite work above the doorway of the 16th century mosque of Zal-Mahmud Pasha near Istanbul, contains finials of almost identical shape to the tulip candleholder of the candlestick. Possible that it was one of a pair for the building and part of the overall decorative scheme of the building.
