Memorial to Francis Musters

Caius Gabriel Cibber, c. 1680

Marble monument consisting of a panel carved in high relief depicting the deceased youth, Francis Musters (1664-1680). He is shown with long flowing hair, and wearing clerical or scholarly dress, kneeling on a cushion, with a book resting on a skull, crowned by two hovering winged putti holding palm fronds.
