The furniture supplied by Gillows to Earl Manvers of Thoresby is documented in some detail. From surviving bills it is possible to identify five pieces stamped Gillows, Lancaster, including the present piece of furniture. It is probably the 'Mahogany Wing Wardrobe', one wing lined with brown holland, the other fitted with a linen well and shelves.
