Landscape with goats
Abraham Cornelisz Bega

A park-like landscape at evening; a mass of dark trees, olive green and brown occupies the left half of the canvas. The trees in the middle distance to the right are lit by the setting sun and there is a man and dog crossing the path of some goats. In the foreground there is a sculptured urn with wild flowers at its foot. This work was originally donated to the National Loan Collections Trust, whose collection has now been placed at Cannon Hall by the Art Fund. One of nine gifts and one bequest to eleven museums by S C Turner through the Art Fund between 1929 and 1949.
