Holiday for Tomorrow

Holiday for Tomorrow is an installation that creates a nuanced transitional space using traditional Korean screens and customised blinds (a recurrent motif in YangÂ’s work) to comment upon public and private spaces. The viewer is invited to recline and watch the video meditation on public holidays, alluded to with a sculpture fashioned from seashells. The cool breeze from an electric fan further evokes the sense of summer holidays, subtlety shifting the blinds, while the jaded video narrator observes how holidays only exist to increase productivity. This work was presented by the Art Fund through Art Fund International.
