High-backed Oak Chair

Unknown artist, 1675–1720

High backed chair of solid construction. The hooped back has a vase-shaped splat carved with the figure of a woman, hands joined as if in prayer. There is also floral decoration above and below this. Part of a donation of 16 gifts and 1 bequest to five museums by the Brigadier Clark Fund through the Art Fund between 1936 and 1992.
