Head of Thérèse Degas

Edgar Degas

Thérèse Degas (1840-1897) was the sister of the artist and was painted by Degas many times. She is shown in profile to the left. The verso depicts a study of a monk with bare feet reading. This drawing is from a collection of works which also includes other studies of nudes, dancers, horses, after Donatello's 'David', and portrait studies of Jules Perrot Debal.
