Art Funded by you

Exposed Painting, Deep Violet, Charcoal Black

Callum Innes, 2004

© The artist courtesy The Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh

This work was selected with the help of the artist from The Exposed Painting series which echo the painted reliefs of Ben Nicholson in their treatment of systematically layered and revealed surfaces. The methodical processes involved in creating Innes' work also respond to the Modernist principles; simplicity of form and an abstracted representation of the elemental nature of colour.
