Selection of works from larger multi-media installation titled 'The Path of Roses' comprising 7 gold-embroidered blue silk wall-hung textiles, steel 'figure' sculptures (one large and fourteen small) and one ceramic bowl decorated with calligraphic symbols. The installation was created as a homage to Rumi, the thirteenth century mystic and poet, and is concerned with the Islamic concept of safar (travel and trancendence). It traces the journey of Jalal al-Din al-Rumi who sailed across the Mediterranean to meet the great Sufi mystic and poet Ibn El-Arabi, highlighting the rich encounter between two Sufi masters and three continents.
