Earthenware pot

Lucie Rie, c. 1940–1942

A pot made soon after Lucie Rie's arrival in London. The heavy rings and thicker glaze are probably influenced by Bernard Leach. This pot with its mottled running green glaze with an ochre splash to one side shows Rie developing in the British tradition of pottery.
