Maggi Hambling has a close connection with Ipswich as she is patron of the Ipswich Art School gallery and has been supporting their campaign to buy the building. Robin Warwick Gibson was formerly chief curator at the National Portrait Gallery and has bequeathed his collection to five museums through the Art Fund. Gibson was a close fried of Maggi Hambling.
