A bearded man in armour, his right arm raised, wearing a morian helmet with plume. He stands half length, in profile to the left, holding a spear in his left hand and raising, in his right, an unidentified object which is partly cut away by the top left corner of the drawing; he wears a plumed helmet. Part of an album of drawings belonging to Lord James Cavendish MP (d 1741), son of the second Duke of Devonshire (1665-1729), founder of the great collection of drawings at Chatsworth. The collection of drawings form an interesting relic of the great age of collecting in England.
