David with the head of Goliath; nude figure of David striding to left, holding onto the giant's hair with his left hand. Part of an album of drawings belonging to Lord James Cavendish MP (d 1741), son of the second Duke of Devonshire (1665-1729), founder of the great collection of drawings at Chatsworth. The collection of drawings form an interesting relic of the great age of collecting in England.
